However, they\u2019re a fact of life!\nConsidering how much we use our cooling systems on a daily basis during the\nsummer, it\u2019s only inevitable that at some point, you\u2019ll need repairs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, we can definitely help you fend off the <em>worst <\/em>of these repairs, with\nprofessional maintenance once a year (or twice a year, if you have a heat\npump). The last thing you need, after all, is a sudden breakdown and repair\ncall when temperatures heat their peak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does This Mean I Might Never Need Repairs? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, no. If you have an aging system, or if you skipped\nmaintenance this year (hey, it\u2019s not too late\u2014give us a call!) then you may be\nmore susceptible to repair issues. The good news here is that these needs\nusually give off pretty apparent warning signs, which we\u2019ve outlined below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Low\nAirflow: <\/strong>Air that isn\u2019t moving through your vents with the speed and power\nyou expect can be a big issue. Not only are you uncomfortable as a result, it\nmeans that your cooled, conditioned air is trapped within the system. This can\ncause the coils to freeze and create further issues. Plus, reduced airflow\nmeans your AC system is working harder than it should have to in order to cool\nyour home\u2014increasing stress on your system and your wallet. <\/li><li><strong>Reduced\nCooling Output:<\/strong> So, what if the power of the air coming through your vents\nseems fine, but it\u2019s not <em>cool<\/em>? This\nis clearly an issue, since after all you are paying for cooled air! This is\nmost often the sign of a refrigerant leak. Your refrigerant should never run\nout (it\u2019s not a burning fuel\u2014it ideally cycles through your air conditioner\nduring its entire lifespan). A lack of cooling output is a problem for the same\nreason airflow is a problem\u2014if forces your cooling system to work too hard.\nPlus, refrigerant leaks will eventually shut down a system altogether if\nallowed to continue for too long. <\/li><li><strong>Short-Cycling:\n<\/strong>This describes the process an air conditioner goes through when it turns on\nand off rapidly instead of in regular cycles. Your air conditioner uses up more\nenergy turning on and off than it does simply <em>running. <\/em>Therefore, you want yours to run for at least 15 minutes\nat a time\u2014if it\u2019s not, something is wrong and it\u2019s time to call a pro. <\/li><li><strong>Odd\nNoises:<\/strong> Your air conditioner makes noise, there\u2019s no escaping that. You\u2019ll\nhear the humming of the fans, the clicking of the system as it cycles on and\noff, and even your ductwork contracting and expanding with temperature\nfluctuations. What you <em>shouldn\u2019t <\/em>hear,\nhowever, is grinding, clanging, banging, or a hissing or bubbling noise.\nAnything that\u2019s out of the ordinary for the sounds <em>your <\/em>air conditioner makes warrants a call to our team.<\/li><li><strong>Higher\nCooling Bills:<\/strong> In some cases, an air conditioner that\u2019s wearing down won\u2019t\nactually show any obvious signs that it\u2019s doing so.
