We understand, it\u2019s nearly the middle of summer\nand it is hot. <\/em>If your air\nconditioner has broken down or stopped cooling your home as effectively as it\nonce did, there is absolutely a sense of urgency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But rushing into an air conditioning purchase can leave you\nwith an improperly installed system, or one that is not sized correctly or\nmatched to your home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Factors to Consider with an AC Replacement <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We don\u2019t want you to be without your air conditioner any\nlonger than you need to be during the hottest time of the year, but the fact of\nthe matter is that sometimes another repair just won\u2019t cut it\u2014it may be time to\nreplace your system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We really do encourage you to consider your decision\ncarefully. There are a number of different air conditioners on the market, and\none that\u2019s right for a particular home may be wrong for another. And, as we\nalluded to in our intro, size matters!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You probably understand already that too small of a system\nsimply cannot effectively or efficiently cool its space. However, too big of a\nsystem can be just as bad when it comes to your home comfort. It will go\nthrough a process called short-cycling, which is when it turns on and off\nrapidly. This is hard on the air conditioning system, leading to subsequent\nrepairs and potentially even a premature breakdown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo I Even Need <\/em>a Replacement, or\nCan I Get by with a Repair?\u201d <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Just like we understand the urgency to buy a new system when\nsomething is wrong with yours, we also get how you\u2019d want to see if you can get\nby with a repair instead, at least for this season. This is completely\nunderstandable, but we urge you to consider:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How old is your\nsystem?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A well maintained air conditioner should last about 10-15\nyears. But if yours is over 15 years old, it\u2019s probably time to consider an\nupgrade. After this point, air conditioners start to accumulate chronic\nproblems, and while that one repair may get you through the next few weeks, you\nmight find yourself calling for another repair shortly after\u2014which brings us to\nour next question\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How often are you\ncalling for repairs? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
